What We Offer

General information.

The Bicester Sub_Aqua Club is a Diving, Snorkeling and Social Club. It has roughly 45 diving members and 5 or so social members. Remember as a social member you have free use of the swimming pool Tuesday nights on a fortnightly basis. We meet once a week at the Bicester and Ploughley Sports Center Cafe, Queens Avenue, Bicester, Oxfordshire. Informal meetings are on Tuesday nights, from about 8.00p.m. – 10.00 p.m. From 9.00p.m – 10.15p.m we have exclusive use of the pool on a fortnightly basis, and use it for try-dives, testing equipment, training, snorkeling, swimming etc. People tend to congregate in the Cafe upstairs. Access to the Sports Centre is free as a member of the Bicester Sub-Aqua Club and use of the pool is free on the nights we have it booked.

Diving.

We have a Dive Diary that is available via the website for you to view. Please Follow the link Dive Diary. We hope to run 2 – 4 trips a month over the summer period, plus one or two foreign trips. Dives are a mix of shore and locally hired hard boat when we go to the coast for weekend trips.

Organisation.

The committee tends to meet once every 4 to 6 weeks or so. Being in the middle of the country is not the best place for divers, but maybe because of this, the members tend to be fairly keen. It is a pretty informal club and there is little or no “Anti-PADI” or similar, please see the crossover page for details of the qualification equivalents. Members ages range vary throughout, I would guess the bulk of the club is in the 20 – 50 range.

If you come along on a Tuesday, ask for any of the committee, who will be more than willing to help provide you with information about the club.
